Fantasy Football: Waiver targets for Week 6

It was an exciting and interesting Week 5, where we saw the some new names enter into our collective fantasy football minds. Injuries and breakout stars are going to send fantasy managers scrambling to waivers this week, and we can full you in on who to target before waivers clear.

1. Logan Thomas, TE, Wahington Commanders

Surprise surprise, Eric Bienemy loves using tight ends in his offense and the ultra athletic Logan Thomas has become a primary beneficiary. Now with touchdowns in two of his last three games, and his continued target share growth in the offense, Thomas is starting to build his 2023 resume as a top ten fantasy tight end. Feel free to go get him and fire him up this week against the Atlanta Falcons, and keep him in that starting slot should his target share keep growing.

2. Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints

Miller saw his most action so far in a blowout win against the New England Patriots last week, touching the ball sixteen times for thirteen fantasy points. Not a bad set of margins for the rookie whose snap share is only going to continue to grow until Jamaal Williams is back fully healthy. Miller should see plenty of work next week against the Houston Texans and can even be considered for a flex spot. Treat him as a high end bench stash for now, but he could pop off any week.

3. Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Whether it’s Anthony Richardson or Gardner Minshew, Josh Downs is going to catch the football. The talented slot rookie prefers the veteran tempo passer in Minshew who will be the starter for the next month or so while Richardson recovers from injury. Expect Downs’ workload to grow as he works his way into the WR2 conversation in PPR legaues should his target share continue to expand with Minshew.

4. Josh Reynolds, WR, Detroit Lions

Josh Reynolds has thrived with the absence of usual starter Amon-Ra St. Brown sidelined due to injury. Even if Brown returns Reynolds has solidified himself as a big target in the end zone and one of the most reliable targets in a high flying Detroit Lions offense. Reynolds may become a bit touchdown dependent once Brown returns and Jameson Williams is worked further into the game plan, but right now he is a clear high value target in free agency.

5. D'Onta Foreman, RB, Chicago Bears

It’s not every week you see your entire running back room go down with injuries, but that is what the Chicago Bears experienced last Sunday. With Khalil Herbert officially landing on injured reserve D’Onta Foreman could be asked to carry the load for this Chicago offense. We have seen this from Foreman a few times over the last couple of seasons where he has come in for the usual starter and overperformed, and we could see it again. Rookie running back Roschon Johnson is a threat to his snaps, but it certainly feels like Foreman is the preferred option moving forward.
