Faces off the Field: Liberty Hill fullback Ben Carter on what makes the slot-T sing

All about Ben: sports, football and video games

Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

I like to play video games in my spare time when I'm not busy with sports.

What do you believe is the world's greatest creation?

The internet. It's allowed people to learn and connect with one another from all around the world.

What is your all-time favorite TV show?

My all time favorite show is "The Simpsons" because I enjoy animated shows and I find it funny to watch.

If you could go to any concert, whom would you see?

I would see Zach Bryan because all of his concerts are great and I enjoy his music.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

After I graduate, I want to go to college and study marketing as well as hopefully play football.

Ben Carter is a fullback who makes Liberty Hill's slot-T offense roll. That included an 82-80 victory over Hutto earlier this season. In his spare time he enjoys playing video games. He aspires to play college football next year.

About Liberty Hill football: it's all about the slot-T

Tell us something about the first time you played competitive football.

Something I remember is getting to win my first game. I think I was about 9 and just getting to win my first football game was such a cool experience at that age.

Your team won an 82-80 game against Hutto. What stands out from that?

What stands out to me is how our offense continued to produce and regain focus every drive. Every time we went back onto the field, we knew we had to end up in the end zone if we wanted to stay ahead of Hutto. On the sidelines we would celebrate and have fun, but in our huddle we would be focused and communicate with one another.

After all these years, the old slot-T still works in Liberty Hill. Why do you think that is?

It still works thanks to our coaches. They all know what they are doing and how to teach us. This allows younger guys to quickly pick it up. Our coaches also make sure we get the little things done correctly to limit as much error or confusion as possible.

Do you have any pregame or game-day rituals?

Before every game I like to pray and thank God for the opportunity to be able to play.

Senior running back Ben Carter credits Liberty Hill coaches with keeping the program's slot-T offense humming from year to year. "They all know what they are doing and how to teach us," he said.

Dream dinner: Ben, meet Ben

If you could invite four people to dinner in the history of the world, who would they be?

I'm going to choose Jesus Christ, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein and Adrian Peterson.

Why did you pick Ben Franklin?

I chose him because we share the same first name, and (I) feel like I could learn a lot of cool things from him.
