ESPN stat projections for the Seattle Seahawks in 2023
We haven’t even reached the 2023 NFL Draft yet, but it’s never too early to start looking forward to the upcoming season. Part of the fun is predicting how teams and players will do, as each season is a brand new story to be told.
ESPN’s Mike Clay recently did stat projections for all 32 teams, obviously including the Seattle Seahawks. Clay’s projections for Seattle can be seen either on the link above, or in the screen shot below.
There are a few notable drop offs for some key Seahawks in these projections. First off, quarterback Geno Smith is projected to throw three fewer touchdown passes (30 to 27) and barely have less passing yards (-328). Clay also projects him to lose 3% on his completion percentage, going from 69% to 66%. This is crucial, as so much of Smith’s new contract is tied heavily in incentives to match his 2022 stats.
Secondly, wide receiver Tyler Lockett is apparently projected to finally snap his 1,000+ yards receiving streak. Lockett has surpassed the 1,000 yard mark in each of the last four seasons.
