ESPN: Jets’ Mekhi Becton outside top-10 OTs, but does get votes

New York Jets offensive lineman Mekhi Becton is a bit of a lightning rod for attention this offseason. Look no further than his apparel during minicamp.

Entering his third year in the NFL after the Jets used a top pick on him at the draft, which Becton will New York see this season? The promising rookie or sophomore slump?

ESPN added some interesting insight via their positional rankings.

The former world-wide leader is using help from those in football to name the top-10 players at each spot on the field. ESPN surveyed 50 league executives, coaches, scouts and players to come to their conclusions.

Becton was not named amongst the top-10 offensive tackles. However, he was mentioned.

ESPN noted every player who received a vote at all. That’s where Becton appears.

A specific number of votes is not given.

But the thing to take away from this is that someone in the NFL does believe Becton has it. So much so that he received a nod that he’s amongst the best tackles in the game.

Plenty of time for Becton to prove that vote correctly.
