ESPN insider shares bold prediction for Mac Jones in 2021 season

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has not taken one snap of NFL action. Yet, that hasn’t stopped several analysts from making bold predictions about what the former Alabama star will do in his first season.

ESPN asked several analysts to make bold predictions about rookies for the upcoming season in a story published Monday. NFL insider Field Yates offered a prediction for Jones, one that should make Patriots fans happy.

Yates wrote that Jones will lead all rookies in touchdown passes for the 2021 season. For what it’s worth, Jones was second in the NCAA with 41 touchdown passes last season, as he lead Alabama to a national title.

“Mac Jones will lead all rookie quarterbacks in touchdown passes,” Yates wrote. “The first part of this prediction is forecasting that Jones takes over as the starter by Week 1 for New England after a strong training camp. The second half is projecting a smooth transition into the NFL with a remade Patriots’ pass-catching group. Behind an excellent offensive line and with a great coaching staff to work with, Jones will step up right away. You wanted bold, right?”

With the prediction assuming that Jones will be the starter for the first week of season, this is indeed a bold prediction. Whether or not either of these things will happen will be answered soon enough.
