Erie County's Top Performers in high school sports include 3-homer game, more for May 1-6

Erie County's high school spring sports have entered their final full month of their seasons.

Here are some of the Top Performers for the first week of May:

Spring scoreboard: District 10 baseball, softball, track, more results for May 1-6

Baseball

Mason Kindle, Erie High: His two hits and two RBIs highlighted the offense for the Royals when they defeated Warren 8-3.

Josh Samluk, McDowell: He drove in two runs for the Trojans en route to their 7-5 victory vs. General McLane.

Jose Quinones, Erie High: The starting pitcher for the Royals struck out 10 Meadville batters, which helped them to a 5-1 win.

David Gibson, North East: He was responsible for one of the great single-game offensive performances in team history with three home runs and six RBIs during the Grapepickers’ 13-3, six-inning victory over Seneca.

Spencer Deitz, McDowell: He drove in two runs during the Trojans’ 18-6, five-inning win against the General McLane Lancers.

John Majczyk, Mercyhurst Prep: His two-hit, four-RBI effort helped the Lakers rout Girard 17-3 in five innings.

Will Luxon, Girard: He pitched a five-hit shutout when the YellowJackets beat Northwestern 10-0 in six innings.

Joe Doverspike, Iroquois: He drove in two runs for the Braves, who defeated Eisenhower 9-6.

Jason Fultz, Cathedral Prep: He homered for one of his two hits in the Ramblers’ 11-1 win against the Corry Beavers.

Cole Bennett, Iroquois: His two-hit, two-RBI effort at the plate was the difference for the Braves when they beat Rocky Grove 2-1 in a weather-shortened, five-inning game.

Andrew Costello, Cathedral Prep: His two RBIs helped the Ramblers beat Meadville 4-3.

Softball

Emalie Thomas, Cathedral Prep: She recorded an equal number of hits and runs scored (three) during the Ramblers’ 12-2, five-inning win over the Erie High Royals.

Kiernan Skelton, Fort LeBoeuf: She scored two runs and drove in two others thanks to three hits, including two doubles, when the Bison beat the Union City Bears 10-2.

Alex Cozzens, North East: Her two-home run, five-RBI effort at the plate was the difference when the Grapepickers won 9-7 at Union City.

Kayla Hayes, Corry: Her three RBIs accounted for one-third of the Beavers’ offense in their 9-6 win against the Sharon Tigers.

Olivia Jarmolowicz, Mercyhurst Prep: The Lakers, thanks to her RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, beat Girard 15-14 for their first win this season.

Addison Lucas, Harbor Creek: She pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out nine for the Huskies, who defeated North East 15-0 in four innings.

Kendall Stull, Fort LeBoeuf: The St. Bonaventure University recruit recorded a three-inning, no-hitter when the Bison beat Fairview 15-0.

Alyssa Burlew, Corry: She socked the game-winning, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, which gave the Beavers a 13-11 victory against Hickory.

Lauren Konkol, Seneca: She pitched a three-hit shutout when the Bobcats beat North East 10-0 in five innings.

Ayla Ruland, Northwestern: She homered during the Wildcats' 17-1, three-inning victory vs. the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers.

Cathryn Reynolds, Union City: The Bears' leadoff hitter had a home run amid her four RBIs during their 19-0, five-inning victory at Girard.

Talon King, Harbor Creek: She drove in four runs and was the winning pitcher for the Huskies' 22-0, three-inning victory at Mercyhurst Prep.

Hannah Wieczorek, Seneca: Her grand slam highlighted the Bobcats’ 19-0, three-inning victory vs. the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers.

Aaron Heinlein, McDowell: The Franciscan University recruit advanced to District 10’s Class 3A singles final for the third time in as many seasons.

Gavin Ferretti, Cathedral Prep: The unexpected top seed for District 10’s Class 2A singles tournament lived up to that status when he advanced to its championship match.

Cameron Grieshaber, Cathedral Prep: The regular doubles starter for the Ramblers won in singles when they blanked Mercyhurst Prep 5-0 at Westwood Racquet Club.

Jonah Ng, Cathedral Prep: His No. 1 singles victory as part of the Ramblers’ 5-0 win over Warren in a dual between District 10’s region champions.

Girls lacrosse

Sophia Glance, Cathedral Prep: Her hat trick was part of the Ramblers' 14-8 victory vs. Fairview at Dollinger Field.

Lauren Hain, McDowell: She recorded a team-high five goals when the Trojans won 18-2 at Ambridge.

Lexi Rich, McDowell: The Trojans’ top player recorded a hat trick during their 11-2 victory vs. the rival Cathedral Prep Ramblers at Gus Anderson Field.

Boys lacrosse

Charles McBrier, Cathedral Prep: His four goals and two assists highlighted the Ramblers’ attack when they won 15-4 against Meadville.

Santino Montefiori, Cathedral Prep: He led the Ramblers in scoring with four goals and assisted on two others during their 17-5 victory vs. the Hickory Hornets.

Evan Grimm, Fairview: His five goals were the most for the Tigers when they defeated Gowanda (New York) 15-14.

Conor O’Brien, Cathedral Prep: The junior scored five goals and assisted on two others when the Ramblers routed Conneaut 16-1 in a District 10 match at Dollinger Field.

Boys volleyball

Octavian Sperry, Mercyhurst Prep: His 17 kills, five aces and seven digs highlighted the Lakers' three-set sweep of Conneaut.

Deke Patton, McDowell: He led the Trojans in kills (12) for their three-set sweep of the Rocky Grove Orioles.

Jordan Haas, Cathedral Prep: The Ramblers defeated Farrell in five sets with the aid of his eight kills, eight aces and 23 assists.

R.J. Nagg, McDowell: He assisted 11 times and recorded six aces for the Trojans, who swept the Maplewood Tigers at Paul Goll Gymnasium.

David Bahm, Mercyhurst Prep: He recorded eight kills and served up six aces for the Lakers in a three-set sweep of Cathedral Prep at Joann Mullen Gymnasium.

Girls track and field

Kelsie Skinner, Fort LeBoeuf: She won the North East Invitational’s shot put event with a throw of 31 feet, 6½ inches.

Chloe Yazembiak, Northwestern: She was the North East Invitational’s gold medalist for the 100-meter and 200-meter sprint finals.

Ashley Post, Seneca: She was a triple winner as a runner for the Bobcats during their appearance at the North East Invitational.

Kennley Conn, North East: She was the high jump champion (4-9) during her school’s invitational at Ted Miller Stadium.

Makenna McFarland, McDowell: Her attempt of 32-9½ was good enough for first place in the triple jump competition at the North East Invitational.

Isabel Owens, Fairview: She finished first in the 800 final (2:22.34) during the Pine-Richland Invitational at Gibsonia.

Leena Scobell, Fairview: She sprinted to first place in the 100 and 200 races for the Tigers when they beat the visiting Mercyhurst Prep Lakers 96-36 in a Region 5 dual.

Boys track and field

Jamari Curlett, North East: The sprinter for the Grapepickers won as an individual (100 meters) and with their 400 relay during the team's invitational.

Bonheur Kitongo, Erie High: The junior completed his lap in 53.92 seconds for first place in the North East Invitational’s 400 final.

Ryan Miller, Seneca: The Bobcats’ star athlete swept first place in the hurdles races at the North East Invitational.

Ryan Hayes, Fort Leboeuf: He won the North East Invitational’s 1,600 final with a time of 4:44.85.

Cole Marshall, Harbor Creek: He cleared 9 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault, good for the gold medal in that event at the North East Invitational.

Andrew Hatton, Iroquois: His first-place throw in the North East Invitational’s javelin competition landed at an even 141 feet.

Kamden Kramer, McDowell: He won the Pine-Richland Invitational’s 3,200 race in 9:20.25, which lowered the school record by 17 seconds, and contributed to the Trojans’ team title.

Logan Anderson, General McLane: He was the gold medalist in the 110 hurdles and bronze medalist in the 300 hurdles during the Pine-Richland Invitational.

Nick Krahe, Harbor Creek: The Huskies’ star thrower won the Pine-Richland Invitational’s shot put competition with a toss of an even 53 feet.

Austin Hallock, Fairview: He tossed the discus an even 117 feet and the shot put at 98-5 for first place in those events when the Tigers beat Mercyhurst Prep 98-52 in the teams’ Region 5 dual.
