Eli Holstein set to compete in Elite 11

Each year, the top high school quarterbacks across the nation flock to Los Angeles to compete in the Elite 11 finals. For Alabama, one of their own will be competing in this year’s event.

Eli Holstein, a four-star quarterback from Zachary, La. who committed to Alabama last month, will join at least 14 other rising seniors for the Elite 11 finals that will take place June 28-30.

According to the Elite 11’s website, 12 of the last 13 quarterbacks to win the Heisman Trophy have competed in either an Elite 11 regional or final. Several quarterbacks who have competed in the Elite 11 are Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, and Andrew Luck.

Since 2014, four Alabama signees have competed in the Elite 11. Most recently, current Crimson Tide signal-caller Bryce Young was a member of the 2019 roster. Tua Tagovailoa was awarded MVP of the 2016 camp. Blake Barnett and Taulia Tagovailoa also competed in the Elite 11, despite not finishing their college careers at Alabama.

Holstein committed to Alabama on May 24 as the first quarterback for the 2023 recruiting cycle to pledge. Alabama currently ranks as the no. 29 recruiting class by 247sports with four commits.
