El Paso's Hailey Delgado wins gold for Team USA wrestling

El Paso's Hailey Delgado, who is one of the nation's best youth wrestlers, won a gold medal on Saturday for the United States in the women's freestyle competition at the U15 Pan American Championships in Panama City, Panama.

She was one of four Americans, who won gold medals on Saturday. Team USA ended up with nine champions and a bronze medalist, dominating the team standings with 240 points.

Delgado won her gold medal in the 42 KG division by pinning Jennifer De Souza Queiroz of Brazil.

Delgado earned a spot at the U15 Pan American Games in Panama by qualifying at the Pan American Team Trials in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Delgado was competing in her first international competition and is the owner of multiple national championships in her career.
