El Paso boxers Ivy Enriquez, Caleb Arroyos win Gold at Junior Olympic Tournament

El Paso amateur boxers fared well at the Junior Olympic Boxing Tournament in Lubbock, which wrapped up on Saturday.

  • Ivy Enriquez took first at 110 pounds in the Youth Division by defeating Sindi Salazar.

  • Natalie Martinez was second at 101 pounds in the Youth Division.

  • Sergio Enriquez was second at 65 pounds in the bantamweight division.

  • Daisy Enriquez was second at 85 bounds in the bantamweight division.

  • Caleb Arroyos took first at 145 pounds in the bantamweight division.

For Ivy Enriquez, it was her seventh national championship and for Arroyos it was his first title. He defeated Luis Raul Marquez in the finals.

"It went well," said Ivy Enriquez of the Junior Olympic Championship. "In my title match, it went according to play and it feels good to win another title."

Ivy Enriquez, who will be a junior at Bel Air High School, will next travel to Germany to compete in the Brandenburg Camp and Competition July 28-Aug. 19, where she will represent Team USA. Before that, she will travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado, for a training camp with Team USA.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to compete in Germany, it'll be my first time going out of the country to compete," Ivy Enriquez said.
