Gomez defeated Trinity Prospsers in the championship match to cap a week in which she went 4-0. She also defeated Mandy Hernandez, Brooklin Schoen and Hainite Tuitupou. Gomez won two matches by decision and two by stoppage.

Gomez owns 15 national championships and has also won international boxing championships. She has been one of the United States' top fighters for several years. Gomez also won this year's Texas Golden Gloves championship.

"In the championship fight that was my most complete effort," Gomez said. "I really boxed well and just finished the tournament on a high note. It was a busy week, but I felt good and got in some good work."

Gomez will next head to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for an international competition for Team USA and then will be in Lubbock in June for the Junior Olympic National Championships.
