Eight Greater Cincinnati high school soccer stars named All-Americans

Eight Greater Cincinnati high school soccer players were named All-Americans Tuesday by the United Soccer Coaches National Coaches Association.

For the boys, honorees are Indian Hill senior Charlie Isphording, Moeller senior Bradley Poppell and Madeira senior Jake Isgrig.

Poppell had 23 goals and assists for the Crusaders, who were Division I state runner-ups and finished 24-0-1.

Indian Hill senior Charlie Isphording led the Braves to an 18-2-1 record.

Isphording, a defender, led the Braves to the Cincinnati Hills League championship and an 18-2-1 record. Isgrig had 17 goals and 17 assists for the Mustangs, who ranked second in the CHL and finished 13-6-1.

For the girls, honorees include Bree Reder of Summit Country Day, Samantha Erbach of Waynesville, Laney Smith of Highlands, Presley Pennekamp of Oak Hills and Elizabeth Zimmerman of Cincinnati Country Day.

Reder, a sophomore, led the SCD back line as the Silver Knights won the Ohio Division II state championship. Zimmerman led CCD to the Division III state title with 32 goals and 32 assists. Erbach, a Xavier commit, had 48 goals and 26 assists. Pennekamp, a junior, had 46 goals and 10 assists this season. Smith had 26 goals and 19 assists for Highlands.

Pennekamp is the first All-American in the history of the Oak Hills program.

In addition to the All-American honors, United Soccer Coaches announced its all-region teams.

Besides the three local All-American boys honorees, local players on the All-Great Lakes Region team include Joaquin Beatty (Summit Country Day), Max Miller (Mariemont), Paul Chen (Mason), Mason Cooper (Moeller), Everett Rinaldi (Seven Hills), Connor Wilkes (Indian Hill), Diego Hoenderkamp (Ryle) and Mason Paschka (Elder).

In addition to the all-state honorees, local girls players on the All-Central Region team are Sydney Hardesty (CCD), Millie Cluxton (Seton), Zoey Koch (Wyoming), Peyton Smith (Milford), Miller Spreen (Mariemont), Anna Cornejo (Madeira), Sarah Deaton (Monroe) and Braelyn Even (Badin).

Kentucky is in the South Region in the girls listings. Laney Smith was on the all-region team with Highlands senior teammate Claire Cavacini.
