The Eagles forced the issue in set one. After the Eddies scored first on a kill from senior Drew Glaser, GR Christian scored the next six points, prompting Edwardsburg coach Sarah Strefling to call a timeout. Unfortunately for her team, the Eddies could never cut the margin below four the rest of the way, ultimately losing the set by a 25-15 margin.

Set two was trending toward another easy Eagles win when they went on a 4-0 run to increase its lead to six, 14-8. Edwardsburg battled its way back into the set, though, cutting the deficit to as low as one at 24-23. After a Grand Rapids timeout, the Eagles came out of the break and scored the final point on a kill from freshman Grace Goodyke.

Edwardsburg controlled most of the third set, going up by as many as four points, 13-9, during it. It surrendered the lead at 14-15, only to take it back two points later. It remained a close battle until the end, with Edwardsburg staving off elimination when trailing 24-22 by scoring two points to tie it at 24. Grand Rapids scored the next two, however, ending the Eddies’ season.

Unofficially, Glaser led the Edwardsburg offense with 12 kills, while sophomore Sarah Pippin added 10. Senior Lexi Schimpa was the primary facilitator of the offense with 26 assists.

Edwardsburg ends the season with a 24-8-4 record.
