Jose Mourinho believes Eden Hazard can inspire Chelsea to the Premier League title this season, and has admitted he would love to see him playing in his Manchester United team.

Chelsea have made a flying start to the season under Maurizio Sarri, with their star man Hazard again proving to be a priceless commodity.

The Londoners play Mourinho’s United in the first Premier League game after the international break on Saturday. And the Reds boss thinks his old club can go all the way, if Hazard stays fit and in form.

“The results speak by themselves,” said Mourinho. “Obviously they’re not playing Champions League.

“That puts them just on the Premier League and, in the Premier League, the results speak for themselves. Very good results, top of the league and, of course, lots of good players.

“But history says that when Eden Hazard is the best player of the Premier League, Chelsea are the champions.

“It happened with me and Antonio, and this season, it’s still the beginning of course, but if he’s the best player of the Premier League until now, which I think he is, Chelsea are top of the league because he’s the kind of player who can make a huge difference.”

Mourinho is Chelsea’s best ever manager, with three league titles, an FA Cup and three League Cups during his two spells in charge.

He’s had success at United too, including winning the League Cup and Europa League in his first season. But this campaign has so far been a struggle, and the visitors could badly do with a positive result at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho knows the addition of a player like Hazard at Old Trafford could make all the difference.

“I would love to have him in Manchester United but I don’t think Chelsea will sell him to Manchester United, so it’s a not problem,” Mourinho added.

“Chelsea is led by intelligent and experienced people in football and they would never sell Eden to Manchester United, so there’s no point to comment.”
