East Nicolaus big three fills out all-section team
Jan. 2—East Nicolaus High's girls volleyball season was one that featured unprecedented highs, capped by a first-ever trip to the Northern California state Final Four, where it fell in four sets to eventual California Interscholastic Federation state D-IV runner-up Marin Academy.
The Spartans also achieved a rare 3-peat in the Northern Section in 2023, led by its game-changing trio — all of whom were named to the 33rd annual MaxPreps all-Northern Section girls volleyball postseason team compiled annually by the Appeal-Democrat, MaxPreps.com, Red Bluff Daily News, Redding Record-Searchlight and the Chico Enterprise-Record.
Outside hitter Jadyn Hoffman and Setter Addy Tagala were named to the first-team, while Hoffman was selected section MVP.
Senior outside hitter Tiare Faupula earned a second-team nod alongside Tri-County talent Connie Huttman, (Willows middle) and Dottie Davis (Orland all-around).
Representing the third-team from the area is Elle Faris (Colusa outside hitter), Lillilana Rowe (Orland middle) and Bethany Millen (Willows setter).
Donald Takeuchi, from East Nicolaus, was selected Coach of the Year.
