Early Week 6 Fantasy Pickups: Robby Anderson catches fire

Some strange things happened in Week 5’s early slate of games. Packers kicker Mason Crosby apparently forgot how to do his job (missing five total kicks), Julio Jones didn’t have a single catch until deep into the third quarter, and the Browns beat the Ravens in overtime. That said, some players emerged with big days among those oddities, and Liz Loza has highlighted three set to heat up the waiver wire in Week 6:

Robby Anderson shows off (34% owned on Yahoo)

It can be tough sledding to find quality fantasy assets on a team with a rookie quarterback and a sub-par offense, but the Jets had more than a few positive signs on Sunday, including the Sam Darnold-Robby Anderson connection.

The speedster took two-of-three catches to the house and totaled 123 receiving yards. Anderson and Quincy Enunwa both had five targets, but Anderson made his count. While he will have some blunders, Anderson is a true home run threat who could have more days like this as Darnold continues to get comfortable as a professional. He also has a juicy matchup against Indy up next.

Chester Rogers getting lucky (5% owned on Yahoo)

The Colts fell to the Patriots on Thursday night football, but Andrew Luck still threw for 365 yards and three touchdowns. With many injuries on the offensive side of the ball, players have had to step up. Players like receiver Chester Rogers, who turned 11 targets — he’s had 11 targets in back-to-back weeks — into eight catches for 66 yards. He probably would have had a bigger day if not for some drops (although it seemed like every Colts receiver had butterfingers on Thursday). Nonetheless, with T.Y. Hilton ailing, Rogers showed a rapport with Luck and is expected to command more targets in future weeks.

Frank Gore still thriving (10% owned on Yahoo)

Much was made about the potential Kenyan Drake had going into this season as Miami’s lead rusher, but five weeks in, Drake has seen fewer carries than Frank Gore (47 to 39). Whether it’s the coaching staff or game script, Gore continues to cut into Drake’s production. Gore is expected to continue be a factor in Miami unless something drastic occurs with Drake’s usage (although there’s little evidence to that happening as of yet).
