Dutch teenage driver Dilano van ’t Hoff killed in race in Belgium

Dutch racer Dilano van 't Hoff died from a crash during a Formula Regional European Championship race at the Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot, Belgium, on Saturday, his team announced. Van 't Hoff was 18 years old.

Van 't Hoff was involved in a multiple-vehicle crash in wet conditions during a restart.

He made his debut with MP Motorsport in 2021 and won the Spanish Formula 4 championship that same season.

"MP Motorsport is deeply saddened to confirm that our driver, Dilano van 't Hoff has passed away as a result of a crash during the second race of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at Spa Francorchamps," Dutch MP said in a statement. "We are devastated at the loss of one of our brightest Dutch talents, who brought so much energy to our team during the years he raced with us."

It's the second fatality at the track in the past four years. Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert died in a crash at the same track in 2019.

“We are so sad to learn of the passing of Dilano van ‘t Hoff today at Spa-Francorchamps,” Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said in a statement.

“Dilano died in pursuit of his dream to reach the pinnacle of motorsport.”
