Drew Gilbert promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi

Former Vol Drew Gilbert was promoted to Corpus Christi on Monday.

The Corpus Christi Hooks are a Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. Corpus Christi competes in the Texas League located in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Gilbert comes to Corpus Christi after being assigned to the Asheville Tourists on April 3. The Tourists are a High-A affiliate of the Astros in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville competes in the South Atlantic League.

Gilbert played at Tennessee from 2020-22.

He appeared in 141 games with the Vols from 2020-22, recording a .314 batting average, totaling 22 home runs, 140 RBIs, 116 runs, 55 walks and 16 stolen bases.

Gilbert was selected by Houston in the first round (No. 28 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
