Dolphins DE Trey Flowers not expected back anytime soon

While the Miami Dolphins have put together an impressive first 13 weeks of their 2022 campaign, one of the main storylines of the season has been injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

One that went under the radar earlier in the season was the loss of defensive end Trey Flowers, who went down with a foot injury after just one snap in Miami’s Week 6 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Flowers has been on injured reserve since then, but there hasn’t been much talk about him over the last two months.

On Wednesday, head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about Flowers’ progression, but the coach was quick to dismiss a return in the near future.

“Yeah, I don’t foresee seeing him anytime soon, but I’m wishing him as fast of a recovery and he’s doing well in the process,” McDaniel said.

Flowers wasn’t necessarily an impact player during his four games with the Dolphins earlier this season, recording just four tackles and one quarterback hit while playing 24% of the defensive snaps. However, he certainly could be more useful now since Emmanuel Ogbah’s season-ending injury.
