Does NASCAR refund tickets for rain? With Daytona 500 postponed, here's what fans should know

The rain has come, and delayed Saturday's start to the Daytona Xfinity Series race. But now it washed away the Daytona 500 on Sunday, so will fans be able to get ticket refunds if they can't stay for Monday?

It's unfortunate that's even a question, but the weather forecasts for the Great American Race have not been promising. The National Weather Service said there's a 100% chance of rain in Daytona Beach on Sunday.

Since wet weather moved Saturday's and Sunday's main events to Monday after the races got postponed, can fans get their money back? Here's what to know about NASCAR's Weather Protection Program.

What is the Daytona 500 rain policy?

If the Daytona 500 gets postponed, NASCAR's Weather Protection Program will allow fans to exchange their ticket for another race at a designated track since season or for the 2025 Daytona 500.

Can you get a refund on NASCAR tickets if it rains?

Sort of. If the race is postponed, fans can exchange any unused grandstand ticket for a future race in the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Craftsman Truck Series at another venue. Ticketholders have 60 days after the rescheduled event to contact the ticket office and exchange their tickets.

Fans looking to exchange their tickets after a delay can contact Daytona International Speedway at 1-877-306-7223 or via their website.

There are no cash refunds. If the race is delayed to later Sunday instead of being postponed for another day, ticket exchanges are not eligible.

What tracks are in the rain package for NASCAR?

If the Daytona 500 is postponed, fans can exchange their unused tickets for a race this season at one of the following tracks:

  • Darlington, South Carolina

  • Daytona (either the Coke Zero Sugar 400 in August or the 2025 Daytona 500)

  • Homestead-Miami, Florida

  • Kansas (Kansas City)

  • Martinsville (Ridgeway, Virginia)

  • Michigan (Brooklyn)

  • Chicago (street race)

  • Phoenix (except for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship)

  • Richmond, Virginia

  • Talladega, Alabama

  • Watkins Glen, New York

When is the Daytona 500?

The 2024 Daytona 500 is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Monday, February 19. The race will air on Fox. Mike Joy will be the main announcer, with Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick serving as analysts from the booth, Larry McReynolds and Michael Waltrip contributing, and Jamie Little, Regan Smith and Josh Sims reporting from pit road.

Streaming options include fuboTV, which offers a free trial to potential subscribers.
