Dodgers place Kershaw (biceps) on 10-day DL

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed left-handed ace Clayton Kershaw on the 10-day disabled list before Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres in Monterrey, Mexico.

Kershaw is dealing with left biceps tendinitis, according to the team's tweet announcing the move.

Manager Dave Roberts said Kershaw had trouble throughout his pregame throwing session Saturday in Monterrey. The team sent Kershaw back to Los Angeles on Sunday to be examined.

"That's a little unsettling, but we'll know more when the doc sees him," Roberts said. "Certainly not ideal. We're cautiously optimistic. We want Dr. (Neal) ElAttrache's professional opinion. We're still hopeful."

Kershaw, 30, tied a career-high with six walks in a loss to the Miami Marlins in late April and has given up nine runs in 18 innings over his last three starts, all losses.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner has struck out 48 batters through 44 innings and is sporting a 2.86 ERA despite his struggles.

The Dodgers called up righty Brock Stewart from Triple-A Oklahoma City to fill the roster spot.

Lefty Rich Hill, whose turn in the Los Angeles rotation was pushed back from Sunday due to a finger ailment, will start Tuesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks after a team off day. Left-hander Alex Wood will start Wednesday.
