Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says team will win 2022 World Series: 'Put it on record'

Dave Roberts is manifesting another World Series ring.

During an appearance Thursday on the "Dan Patrick Show," the Los Angeles Dodgers manager was asked to fill in the blank. "The Dodgers will win the 2022 World Series if..." the host began.

Roberts' reply: “We play a full season, and there is a postseason.”

Roberts expounded.

“We are winning the World Series in 2022. I know where you’re going with that,” Roberts said. “We will win the World Series this year, put it on record.”

Roberts, who led the Dodgers to the 2020 World Series title, has five division championships in six seasons helming Los Angeles. Last year, the lone year they didn't win the NL West, the Dodgers still won 106 games before losing to the Atlanta Braves, who went on to win it all.

After Patrick pressed Roberts for more of an explanation Thursday, the skipper said the team's success would come down to the health of the starting rotation.

The Dodgers signed Freddie Freeman earlier this month to make their lineup even more formidable in 2022.

After the Dodgers tied the Colorado Rockies 6-6 in a Grapefruit League spring training game, reporters asked Roberts about his earlier guarantee.

"I'm putting it out there," he said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "I'm putting it in the universe."
