Doc Rivers, Sixers praise Shake Milton for big game in win over Bucks
PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers were able to come away with a 110-102 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday despite losing Tyrese Maxey at halftime. The young guard had to leave due to a foot injury he suffered in the second quarter.
In his place, the Sixers turned to Shake Milton who turned in a strong performance of 15 points and six assists off the bench. He had 10 points and four assists after halftime in order to help the Sixers knock off a strong Bucks team at home despite missing James Harden and Tobias Harris as well.
Therefore, Milton, De’Anthony Melton, and Danuel House Jr. all had to handle the ball for this team on the offensive end of the floor, and led by Milton, they were able to get the job done.
“I thought him (Milton), De’Anthony, and D-House did a terrific job,” said coach Doc Rivers. “We really were trying to run anything without Jrue Holiday involved down the stretch. We were just trying to get him away from the ball. D-Melt and Shake kinda figured it out. Wherever he was, the other guy handled it, and attacked.”
The thing about Milton is that he has done this for the majority of his career in Philadelphia. Whenever the Sixers need a boost, that is when they will turn to the veteran out of SMU.
“Shake has always been like that,” said Joel Embiid. “We always, not really joke about it, but I always tell him that I wish he could play more because he’s one of the few guys that just knows how to throw pocket passes. He’s so good playing out of the pick-and-roll and tonight showed it. Just controlling on every single play just making the right passes on time.”
With Maxey likely out for the time being, the Sixers will need Milton to continue to step out on the floor and produce in order to help Philadelphia win games. He’s going to be a very important piece for this team at the moment.
