District Baseball: Wyckoff strikes out 16 to lead Dalton into district final

Seth Wyckoff has pitched a lot of great games during his career at Dalton.

Tuesday's district semifinal against New Middletown Springfield was some of his best work yet.

The senior pitcher struck out 16 during a complete-game 7-2 win, sending the Bulldogs onto Thursday's Division IV district finals against Lake Center Christian at Bob Cene Park in Struthers. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Wyckoff's performance on the mound made sure the final result was never much in doubt. Even when Springfield rallied to make it 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth — Dalton scored a run in each of the first three innings — it seemed almost impossible to get the runs needed to beat Wyckoff. The Bulldogs added four runs in the top of the seventh for good measure before Wyckoff closed things out.

Wyckoff carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, allowing just three hits total.

Six different players had hits for Dalton, headlined by Will Carmichael and Alex Hess, who each had two.

Lake Center Christian 10, Loudonville 0

Top-seeded Lake Center Christian proved to be too much for Loudonville in the Div. IV district semifinals.

Baylor Weiser and Dakota Wright each had hits for Loudonville.
