District 10 boys tennis highlights the top performers among Erie County athletes: May 6-11

The Erie Times-News continues to honor Erie County athletes who have recorded notable achievements throughout District 10's spring sports season.

These lists will run through Memorial Day weekend, when the PIAA track and field meet and boys tennis tournament are scheduled.

The week's top performers:

Baseball

Ethan Bliley, Fort LeBoeuf: He recorded three RBIs for the Bison, who blanked the Erie High Royals 10-0.

Charlie Swanson, General McLane: His three RBIs while at-bat helped the Lancers beat the Conneaut Eagles 11-1.

James Kibbe, Girard: He totaled three RBIs for the YellowJackets en route to their 16-1 victory vs. Iroquois.

Connor Cross, McDowell: His two-hit, four RBI performance included a home run, all of which helped the Trojans defeat the Erie High Royals 10-2.

Lucas Doutt, Union City: The shortstop doubled for one his three hits, scored one run and drove in another en route to the Bears’ 7-3 victory vs. the Rocky Grove Orioles.

Brady Coleman, Mercyhurst Prep: His three hits helped the Lakers win 9-2 at Harbor Creek and claim sole possession of first place in Region 4’s standings.

Jason Fultz, Cathedral Prep: The Clemson University recruit helped the Ramblers beat the rival McDowell Trojans 5-1 as a pitcher (15 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings) and a hitter (solo home run).

Reilly Brown, Iroquois: He pitched a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts for the Braves when they beat the Union City Bears 1-0.

Jordan Cannon, General McLane: He pitched a complete-game five-hitter for the Lancers en route to their 3-2 victory vs. Erie High.

Carson Stevens, Girard: He struck out 10 Seneca batters over his five-inning start for the YellowJackets, who won 11-1.

Jason Dolak, Harbor Creek: His home run helped the Huskies defeat the Northwestern Wildcats 13-2.

Brady Rice, Mercyhurst Prep: He got out of a seventh-inning jam to record a save for the Lakers, who doubled up the Fairview Tigers 6-3.

Softball

Alissa Leech, Union City: The Bears beat North East 11-1 with the aid of her three hits and four runs scored.

Izzy Nageli, McDowell: Each of her doubles drove in runs for the Trojans, who won 13-2 in five innings against the rival Cathedral Prep Ramblers.

Talon King, Harbor Creek: She recorded eight of Girard’s nine outs by strikeout when the Huskies routed the YellowJackets 17-0. ... She was the hero of Harbor Creek's previous game, a dramatic 1-0 victory vs. Fort LeBoeuf, with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Zaya Rastetter, Northwestern: Her three RBIs helped the Wildcats to an easy 17-1 win over Seneca.

Cathryn Reynolds, Union City: Her two-run single comprised enough offense for the Bears to beat Fairview 2-1.

Zoey Johnson, Northwestern: She pitched a two-hit shutout when the Wildcats blanked North East 17-0.

Mackenzie Moore, Cathedral Prep: Her home run contributed to the Ramblers’ 15-1 rout of the Meadville Bulldogs. ... She also homered for Prep during the team's 8-3 victory at District 9 Moniteau.

Chloe Shattuck, McDowell: She homered during the Trojans’ 18-3 victory vs. the General McLane Lancers.

Brooklynn Cipalla, Harbor Creek: Her batting line concluded with five RBIs for the Huskies, who routed the Fairview Tigers 20-2.

Londyn Davis, Fort LeBoeuf: She hit a home run for the Bison when they defeated Seneca 12-1.

Baelyn Randolph, Iroquois: Her two hits and four RBIs aided the Braves, who beat the Eisenhower Knights 14-3.

Sydney Wittman, North East: She totaled three RBIs during the Grapepickers’ 14-8 victory vs. General McLane.

Boys tennis

Vincent Azzato and Jacob Chiles, McDowell: They rallied for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 doubles match, which was the difference in the Trojans’ dramatic 3-2 victory vs. Erie High in District 10’s Class 3A championship dual at Westwood Racquet Club.

Colin Troutman, Cathedral Prep: His 6-1, 6-2 victory as the Ramblers' No. 3 singles starter helped them shut out Fairview 5-0 in District 10's Class 2A team final.

Gavin Ferretti and James Casella, Cathedral Prep: They’ll represent District 10 come this month’s PIAA 2A doubles tournament at Hershey.

Gridley Wright and Noah Hardesty, McDowell: The sophomores won District 10’s 3A doubles tournament at Westwood Racquet Club.

John Sinnott, Erie High: The junior became the Royals’ inaugural District 10 singles champion when he won its 3A final at Westwood Racquet Club.

Jonah Ng, Cathedral Prep: He won District 10’s 2A singles tournament for the second time in three seasons.

Boys track and field

Logan Anderson, General McLane: His Erie County Classic records for the 110-meter hurdles (14.98 seconds) and 300 hurdles (38.69) contributed to the Lancers’ team victory.

Tyler Storicks, Harbor Creek: The second-seeded sprinter won the Erie County Classic’s 100 final at 11.41.

Jonathan Tate, Northwestern: He was the Erie County Classic’s 400 gold medalist with a one-lap time of 52.16.

Aivan Vargas, North East: His two-lap time of 2:00.47 left him the 800 victor during the Erie County Classic at Harbor Creek.

Jude Hayes, Fairview: He won track’s longest event, the 3,200 at 10:16.18, at the Erie County Classic.

Ronan Dorler, Fort LeBoeuf: His toss of 49 feet, 2 inches was the farthest during the Erie County Classic’s shot put competition.

Nolan Carey, Corry: He won the Erie County Classic’s javelin competition with a throw of an even 169 feet.

Kyle Brace, Seneca: He swept first place for the 110 and 300 hurdles and also anchored the Bobcats’ winning 1,600 relay when they beat Warren 119-31 in a Region 4 dual.

Joe Pituch, Union City: He was the first-place thrower for the shot put (43 feet) and discus (125-11) when the Bears defeated the Youngsville Eagles 95-49 in a Region 4 dual.

K.C. Wasiulewski, Fort LeBoeuf: He was a winner in track (100 and 200) and field (high jump) for the Bison, who beat the Girard YellowJackets 94-56 in the teams’ Region 5 dual.

Benny Whitaker, McDowell: The sprinter for the Trojans won the 100 and 200 races when they beat the rival Cathedral Prep Ramblers 88-62 in a Region 6 dual.

Girls track and field

Abby Malesiewski, North East: The freshman set the Erie County Classic’s 100-meter hurdles record when she crossed the finish line in 15.21 seconds.

Isabel Owens, Fairview: The Lehigh University recruit won the Erie County Classic’s 800 final with a record time of 2:20.80.

Ava Reagle, Union City: The Bears’ best sprinter was the gold medalist for the Erie County Classic’s 100 and 200 finals. ... Earlier in the week, she swept the 100, 200 and 400 sprint races during Union City's 93-50 Region 4 dual victory vs. Youngsville.

Veronica Brewer, Harbor Creek: She represented the host Huskies with a winning time of 5:42.41 in the 1,600 during the Erie County Classic.

Jordan Fox, Corry: The distance specialist for the Beavers won the 3,200 final (12:09.17) during the Erie County Classic at Harbor Creek.

Morgan Wilhelm, Seneca: She cleared the 300 hurdles in 47.79 for first place in that event at the Erie County Classic.

Kelsie Skinner, Fort LeBoeuf: Her first-place toss of 36 feet, 10 inches in the shot put also helped the Bison finish first in the Erie County Classic’s team standings.

Alena Urbanowicz, Fort LeBoeuf: The sprinter won the 100 and 200 races for the Bison, who beat Girard 116-34 in a Region 5 dual.

Joslyn Schnell, McDowell: She was a victor in track (100 at 13.20) and field (triple jump at 33-3) when the Trojans beat the rival Cathedral Prep Ramblers 78-72 in the teams’ Region 6 dual.

Boys lacrosse

Charlie McBrier, Cathedral Prep: His two goals were the difference for the Ramblers when they edged the Hickory Hornets 6-5 in a District 10 match.

Girls lacrosse

Courtney Leonard, McDowell: Her hat trick helped the Trojans double up the Fairview Tigers 10-5 in a District 10 match.

Niagara Millen, Cathedral Prep: She recorded five goals en route to the Ramblers’ 14-10 District 10 victory vs. Fairview.

Emma Crowers, McDowell: Her five goals personally outscored Meadville when the Trojans beat the Bulldogs 16-2.

Boys volleyball

Ashton Sontheimer, McDowell: His 14 kills were the most for the Trojans when they won 25-22, 27-25, 25-22 at Fort LeBoeuf.
