Westport girls wins first-ever playoff game: Top high school performers (Oct. 30- Nov. 4):

WESTPORT — The Westport girls soccer team continues to shine this fall.

The 27th seed Wildcats captured their first state tournament playoff game in the program's history on Thursday, beating 38th seed Pioneer Valley in Thursday's Division 5 preliminary game at Westport High School.

Ella Camara, Korynne Holden and Julia George each scored a pair of goals for Westport. Kaelyn Butter also scored for Westport. George also had two assists while Camara, Lily Veracka and Harper Thibodeau finished with an assist.

The Wildcats (13-5-1) will travel Monday to face No. 6 seed Maynard.

Sunday

Boys Soccer

The 33rd seed Hilltoppers dropped a close match against top seed Concord Carlisle, 1-0, in the Division 1 Round of 32 game. Durfee ends the season at 10-4-4.

The 35th seeded Tritons lost their game against third seed Bromfield School in the Division 5 Round of the 32 game. Atlantis Charter ends the season at 10-7-2.

Saturday

Girls Soccer

The 23rd seed Hilltoppers bow out of the tournament after falling to King Philip, 8-0, in the Division 1 Round of 32 contest. "Proud of how hard this group has worked this season," Durfee head coach Hayden Tavares said. "Something to be proud of." The Hilltoppers (13-4-2), who won their first-ever Southeast Conference league title, saw their impressive 14-game unbeaten streak come to an end.

Cross Country

The Hilltoppers competed in the Frank Mahoney Coaches’ Invitational and fared well. On the boys side, Chris Baez, Landon Wood, Zach Topolowski and Will Rumsey ran well for Durfee as they qualified for the meet. Woods and Baez both had personal-best times for the season.

On the girl’s side, Taylor Nascimento and Maggie O’Connell qualified and raced for Durfee. Nascimento had a personal-best time and finished 13th overall in the freshman division. O'Connell finished 24th overall in the senior large school varsity race also medaling for Durfee. O’Connell will race at state for Division I in Gardner.

Friday

Boys Soccer

Matt Almeida scored the lone goal on a header to lift the 33rd seeded Hilltoppers to a 1-0 victory over 32nd seed Peabody Veteran in the Division 1 preliminary game. Durfee (10-3-4) will face top seed Concord-Carlisle on Sunday.

Thalys Silva scored the game winner in overtime on a pass from Luis da Silva to give the 35th seeded Tritons a 2-1 win over 30th seeded Smith. Bradley Flores also scored on a free kick.

Field Hockey

Karissa Albin had a pair of goals and three assists to help the third seeded Raiders beat 30th seed Westfield. Ryan Crook finished with two goals and four assists. Julie Pacheco also netted two goals for SBR (18-0-1). Other contributors were Emily Carr (a goal, assist), Addie Finlaw (goal) and Maura Kennedy (assist). The Raiders finished with 37 shots on goal.

Twelve seed Frontier scored off a corner early in the game and held on to beat 21st seed Westport, 1-0. Hannah Abrams had five saves in net. Avery Avila played aggressive in her final game as a Wildcat along with Makayla Grace, Jada Thurston and the entire Westport team.

Girls Volleyball

The 33rd seeded Raiders were eliminated from the postseason after falling to top seed Westborough in three matches in the Division 2 Round of 32. Kori Tickel had 10 digs, an ace and 16 serve receive passes for SBR (14-8). Annabella Karpicz had three kills, five digs and two aces. Cameron Carey who stepped up to fill a middle blocker position because of an injury just 2 days before, had three kills and three blocks.

The 33rd seeded Bengals scored a total of 36 points in three sets but could not overcome the Tigers 3-0. Diman ended its volleyball season with an 18-3 record. It's the second best record in Diman history.

Thursday

Boys Soccer

The 43rd seeded Bengals were eliminated from the state tournament after falling to 22nd seed North Andover, 4-0. Dimans ends the season at 9-8-3.

Girls Soccer

Lauren Roosa and Mia Gentile each scored a goal to help the Raiders blank Amherst Pelham, 2-0. Maddie Willis got the shutout in net.

Ella Camara, Korynne Holden and Julia George each scored a pair of goals to lift the 27th seed Wildcats to a 7-2 home win against 38th seed Pioneer Valley in the Division 4 preliminary game. Kaelyn Butter also scored for Westport. George also had two assists while Camara, Lily Veracka and Harper Thibodeau finished with an assist.

Field Hockey

Megan Smith scored a pair of goals to lift the fifth seeded Cardinals to a 2-0 playoff win over 28th seed Amesbury in the Division 4 Round of 32. Emma Bouchard collected an assist while Avery Plante got the win in goal.

The 22nd seed Hilltoppers were eliminated from the state tournament after falling to 11th seed Belmont, 7-0, in the Division 1 Round of 32 game. Durfee finishes the season at 12-4-2.

Girls Volleyball

Annabella Karpicz had 11 kills, 11 digs, three aces and a block for the 33rd seed Raiders in a 3-1 win over 32nd seed Agawam at the Division 2 preliminary playoff round. Abigail Vieira finished with 10 kills, 12 digs and eight aces while Abigail Davis chipped in with six kills, seven assists and four digs. Libero Kori Tickel had 18 digs and Kayla Caruso ended with 13 assists and 5 aces. Addison Parent had 15 assists and eight digs.

Wednesday

The first time competing in the Division I playoffs resulted in a win for the 33rd seeded Bengals as Diman defeated 32 seed Arlington.

Tuesday

Cross Country

The Bengals competed at the Massachusetts State Vocational Championship and the Mayflower Athletic Conference Championship. Cashton Richard finished fourth in the MAC Large Division, and 27th overall (18:42). Also running well for the boys were Macaulay Crossman (19:24), Izayah Summers (20:49), Eric Valcourt (20:55), Liam Goff (20:58), Ben Bannister (21:08) and Dominick Alves (21:12).

For the girls, Alexah Pedder finished seventh in the MAC Large Division, and 29th overall (24:08). Also running well were Inez Medeiros (24:32), Nya Martinez (24:47), Ayda Dubreuil (24:51), Emma Foley (25:06) and Lylah Thibeault (25:33). Both Richard and Pedder were named Mayflower League All-Stars by placing in the Top 7 in the Mayflower Large Conference.

Monday

Boys Soccer

Ryan Borges scored the lone goal to lift the undefeated Wildcats to a 1-0 win over Fairhaven in the regular season finale. Borges, Marcos Dutra Africano, Zachary Lopes, and Ben Novo helped Noah Amaral (four saves) earn his 12th shutout of the season. Westport also finishes the regular season as one of only three undefeated teams in Eastern Massachusetts while posting an 85-6 goal differential.

Girls Soccer

Julianna Nassiff scored a pair of goals to help the Raiders beat Dighton Rehoboth, 4-1, in the season finale. Lauren Roosa and Carys Carey each scored goals for SBR. Makenzie Pires had a pair of assists while Layla Venancio and Emily Fernandes each had an assist.

Lily Veracka netted four goals as the Wildcats routed South Shore Tech, 9-1, in season finale. Other goal scorers for Westport were Ella Camara (two), Sophia Nickelson, Brooke Crocker and Korynne Holden. Morgan Pacheco got the win in net for Westport, which finished with the program's best record in school history.

Sunday

Vocational tournament

The Bengals dropped three straight sets at the Vocational tournament. Lindsey Moniz led Diman (17-2) with 10 kills and 19 digs. Vitoria DeOliveira had an ace and 17 digs while Kacie Lynch finished with two aces, three kills and 10 digs. Gloria Moniz chipped in with two aces, six assists and 17 digs. Vanessa Melo (six assists, eight digs), Courtney Boies (kill) and Angela Njoroge (block) also played well for the Bengals.
