Did the Boston Celtics err in giving Jaylen Brown a supermax contract extension?

The Boston Celtics have given All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown a historic supermax contract extension worth $300 million over five years, and the decision has raised concerns about the team’s ability to win championships with its current core.

Admittedly, the Celtics did shake things up after several deep runs into the postseason in recent years have failed to produce a title, with Boston swapping out veteran floor general Marcus Smart and injured big man Danilo Gallinari, but if things don’t gel well enough or injury rears its ugly head, will the team be able to pivot effectively?

This is one of the bigger concerns raised by those who opposed a supermax extension for Brown, given the Georgia native can’t be dealt for a calendar year after signing the supermax.

But it also prevents Boston from losing him for nothing as well; is the argument made by the folks behind the video embedded above from the MDJ YouTube channel right? Check it out for yourself and decide.
