Detroit weather for NFL draft to start out cold, sunny — but Saturday looks rainy

The weather will cooperate with the 8 p.m. start of the NFL draft this evening, with clear skies and temperatures beginning to fall into the 40s.

Today will be a crisp day with highs in the mid-50s, as the draft festivities get under way. Lows overnight are expected to be in mid-30s.

Friday should be a little warmer with sun in the morning and highs in the mid-60s. There's a chance of rain, and isolated thunderstorms, after 8 p.m.

Saturday, the last day of the draft and family fun day, could be wet. National Weather Service meteorologist Sara Schultz said widespread rain is expected expected during the morning hours, with a chance for thunderstorms, while rain chances drop to just 20% in the afternoon. It should also be warm, in the mid-70s, but expect some gusty winds.
