Detroit Pistons vs. Washington Wizards: Time, TV, just one day after teams made trade

About 24 hours after completing a trade, the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons will meet on the court for a matinee for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The two worst teams in the Eastern Conference decided to shake up their rosters, with the Pistons sending Marvin Bagley III, Isaiah Livers and 2025 and 2026 second-round picks to the Wizards for Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala, multiple sources confirmed to the Free Press.

The deal allows the Pistons to create more cap space to either facilitate a trade before the deadline or sign someone during free agency this offseason while adding two veterans on expiring contracts in the meantime.

A Pistons official told the Free Press' Omari Sankofa II the deal with the Wizards is the "first step" in their hopes of saving the rebuild, and the predecessor to more moves in the coming months.

As far as the game Monday, all four players involved in the deal are listed as out with the trade is still pending. The matchup is a chance for the Pistons to redeem one of – if not the worst – losses of the season when they were run off their home court by Kyle Kuzma (32 points) and Washington, 126-107, on Nov. 27 to fall to 2-15 on the season.
