Detroit Lions maul Carolina Panthers on both sides of the ball for convincing 42-24 win

The Detroit Lions did what they were supposed to do Sunday to the winless Carolina Panthers.

Jared Goff threw three touchdown passes and snuck in for another as the Lions mauled the Panthers, 42-24 at Ford Field. The Lions' 4-1 start is their best since starting 5-0 in 2011.

David Montgomery continued to show out, running for 109 yards on 19 carries and scoring from 42 yards out. Jerry Jacobs and Aidan Hutchinson each had interceptions against Panthers rookie quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young.

MY MISTAKE: Aaron Glenn has turned Lions into top-10 defense. I was dead wrong to doubt him.
