Detroit Lions to host a drone show above Ford Field, visible throughout downtown Detroit

Detroit Lions fans, be prepared: On Saturday night, a twinkling Honolulu blue lion will replace the stars hidden above the city's sky.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the Detroit Lions are hosting a drone show, presented by Bud Light, to support the team as it prepares to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday's NFC championship game (6:30 p.m., Fox).

The event was originall scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Friday, but was moved to Saturday due to expected low visibility downtown Friday night.

The show is set to take place 400 feet in the air above Ford Field, making the display visible from much of downtown Detroit – weather permitting.

Current forecasts from the National Weather Service do predict cloudy skies and a 40 percent chance of showers Saturday evening, but no cloud can dampen the energy and excitement that the team has bestowed upon their fans this season.

Ford Field and its surrounding streets will be closed for the show to operate safely, requiring any starry-eyed viewers to stay southeast of Madison Street. So, if you want to get your "One Pride" on, settle down and watch the show from a rooftop lounge, a tall parking garage, or one of the many grassy turfs around downtown with an open view of Ford Field.
