Game notes: The Lions will be fighting on two fronts Sunday; first up, there's the Broncos — they're not exactly threatening, with 24 points or fewer in eight of their 12 games, but quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been adequate at getting the ball to receivers Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick and tight end Noah Fant, and running backs Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon are more than competent. The second front? That would be illness, as six players are already in COVID-19 protocol and at least a dozen have suffered from a non-COVID illness that forced the Lions to hold practice in shifts this week at the team's Allen Park facility in hopes of containing its spread.

ILL & NOISE: Lions up to 6 COVID-19 cases, will be without 19% of roster vs. Broncos

All this has left the Lions noticeably thin at certain position groups, such as running back (D'Andre Swift was already out, and Jamaal Williams is on the COVID list, so expect lots of Jermar Jefferson and Godwin Igwebuike) and cornerback (down to just starters Amani Oruwariye and Jerry Jacobs).

So maybe don't bet on the Lions getting their second win of the season (or DO bet on the under, if you must), but then, we're not supposed to root for that at this time of year anyway, are we?
