Denver Broncos' offensive woes reach historic low

It is officially panic time in Denver.

That’s what happens when you turn in another offensive dud, as the Broncos did in Sunday’s 21-0 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. In fact, things were so bad that the offense failed to reach midfield during the entire first half. For the game, Denver — shutout for the first time since 1992 — compiled just 252 yards of total offense, along with three turnovers, all at the hands of quarterback Trevor Siemian.

At 3-3, Denver’s season is far from over, but it is certainly time to question the future of this team, at least offensively. Siemian, 25, is now in his second year under center, yet is making the same errant throws with an inability to push the ball down the field. He boasts a woeful 43.8 quarterback rating and has already thrown six interceptions — a bad sign considering he had just 10 all of last season.

Backing him up is the recently acquired Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans washout Brock Osweiler, along with former first round draft choice, Paxton Lynch, who has been hurt all year.

The Broncos embarrassing loss prompted several angry tweets from Broncos’ Super Bowl winners, including Mark Schlereth and Shannon Sharpe.

Unfortunately for Siemian and the Broncos, it doesn’t get any easier moving forward. Denver will travel to 5-2 Kansas City for a Monday Night game in Week 8, followed by another road game with 5-1 Philadelphia, and finally, a home date with New England.
