Dec. 13 game between Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns listed as ‘can’t-miss’ game

The Brooklyn Nets are transitioning into an era where they are embracing youth and potential as opposed to the previous era that was predicated on superstardom and immediate returns. Brooklyn is expected to be an average team at best and as a result, they are not on national TV as much as they have been over the past few seasons.

In a reminder that the Nets still have important games to play this upcoming season, Brian Martin of NBA.com indicated in a recent article that Brooklyn’s game on Dec. 13, when they visit the Phoenix Suns, will be one of the 20 games throughout the season that NBA fans cannot miss.

The major reason that this game will matter to Nets fans is because of the Kevin Durant trade that happened at the trade deadline this past February. Essentially, Brooklyn traded Durant to Phoenix for a package of first-round picks, Mikal Bridges, and Cam Johnson.

To add more intrigue to the matchup, it will be the first time that these teams have played since the trade and while the Suns are considered to be a significantly better team that the Nets, this will still be a contest of pride for Brooklyn. Here’s what Martin had to say about about the game between the Nets and the Suns:

“This marks the first meeting between the Nets and Suns since last season’s blockbuster trade sent Kevin Durant to Phoenix in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and multiple future Draft picks. Bridges experienced an offensive breakthrough after the trade as he became the primary option in Brooklyn. What will he and Johnson have in store in their first game back in the Valley since the trade?”
