St. John's transfer David Jones, who reportedly visited the Xavier Musketeers last week, announced Monday via Instagram that he committed to the Memphis Tigers.

Joe Tipton reported last month that Jones had heard from XU, Kentucky, Memphis, UConn and Arkansas since entering the portal. He announced his official visit to Memphis in an Instagram post.

The 6-foot-6 forward from the Dominican Republic played two seasons at DePaul before transferring to Big East rival St. John's. Last season for the Red Storm, he averaged 13.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 25.7 minutes per game in 31 games.

Jones faced XU twice while at DePaul and once at St. John's. He scored 26 points in the Blue Demons' loss to the Muskies in Jan. 2022. He scored 19 with 10 rebounds in the Red Storm's loss to XU in Dec. 2022.
