Dates for Mets-Phillies London series in 2024 announced

Jun 25, 2023; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (20) hits a home run against the Philadelphia Phillies during the seventh inning at Citizens Bank Park.

MLB has confirmed a report from May that the Mets will play the Philadelphia Phillies in London during the 2024 season, and the dates for the series have been announced.

The two NL East rivals will go head-to-head in a two-game series in London from June 8-9, the fourth and final series of the 2024 international schedule.

The Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox will play two in Santo Domingo from March 9-10, the Los Angeles Dodgers face off against the San Diego Padres from March 20-21 in Seoul and the Colorado Rockies will play the Houston Astros in Mexico City from April 27-28 for the only inter-league action.

It’s been a long time since the Amazins’ played anywhere besides the continental US and Canada. In fact, when the Mets and Phils square off in London next year, it will be the first time New York has played internationally since 2000 when the team opened up the regular season against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo for a two-game set.

The Mets have played one other international series in their history – a three-game series in 1996 against the Padres in Monterrey which was the first ever MLB regular season series to be played outside the United States and Canada.

Since then, MLB has played 13 more international series, the latest being from June 24-25 of this year when the Cubs took on the St. Louis Cardinals in London. It was just the second time a series was played in London after the Yankees and Red Sox played there in 2019.
