Dana White’s Contender Series trends worldwide for the first time

Dana White's Contender Series began in 2017 as a feeder promotion for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Each event features unsigned fighters competing for a chance at a UFC contract.

At the conclusion of the night of fights, the UFC president hands out UFC contracts to the fighters that most impressed him. On Tuesday, following DWCS Week 2, all five winners on the fight card were awarded the opportunity to compete in the big show.

The promotion has grown into something bigger than just farm system for the UFC. It has its own following and creates fan favorites. On Tuesday, for the first time, the series trended worldwide.

"This is the first time, we've been doing this for, we're in our sixth season. We're trending worldwide for the first time ever. Number 2 in the United States. Number 1 in the U.K. Number 6 in Canada. The list goes on and on of the trends worldwide," White said during the DWCS Week 2 Post-fight Press Conference.

"This is what this show is all about. This is what, when I came up with this concept, this was what it what the concept was supposed to be," White said. "These kids are the best unsigned talent in the world that we bring in here, and you get one shot to show the world who you are."

The series is in its sixth season. It airs Tuesday's on ESPN+ and will run each week until Sept. 27.
