Dalton Albrecht, John Sutherland, Alyssa Hill named to all-NSIC teams

Feb. 29—BURNSVILLE — The Bemidji State basketball teams are taking some hardware from their conference.

Women's basketball sophomore Alyssa Hill was recognized by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference as an All-NSIC Second Team selection, the conference announced Thursday morning. Two men's basketball players were also recognized. John Sutherland was named to the All-NSIC First Team, while Dalton Albrecht was tabbed as All-NSIC Second Team.

Hill earned her first career all-conference selection after pacing the Beavers in points per game (13.2) and field-goal percentage (52.9%) and averaging 4.6 rebounds per game. In conference games, the Negaunee, Mich., native finished 14th in the NSIC in scoring (13.3 ppg) and second in field-goal percentage (53.6%) and ranked 33rd in all of Division II in shooting percentage.

Three times this season, she scored over 20 points, including a career performance at Minnesota Crookston, where she scored 28 points and hauled in 13 rebounds, tying a career high.

In just two seasons, she has compiled 598 career points, averaging 12.7 per game, and has 242 career rebounds.

Sutherland and Albrecht capped off their 2023-24 seasons with all-conference nods as well. Sutherland earned his second consecutive All-NSIC First Team selection after leading the Beavers in points per game (20.0), field-goal percentage (59.1%) and assists per game (4.0).

In conference games, the Grand Rapids native finished sixth in the conference in scoring average (19.9), fourth in rebounding (7.8), second in field-goal percentage (55.8%) and third in assists (94).

Appearing in 28 of the team's 29 games, Sutherland was 22nd in all of Division II with 559 points, second in field goals made (235), 29th in field-goal percentage (57.3%) and 37th in rebounds (222). Sutherland recorded 20 or more points in 15 games this season, including twice scoring 30 or more points.

He ended his junior season with 1,379 career points at BSU and sits fifth all time on the program's career scoring list. He is also fourth on the program's all-time career rebounding list (640) and ninth in career assists (221).

Albrecht earned his first career All-NSIC recognition after being named to the Second Team. Albrecht was an unstoppable force on the boards and paced the Beavers and the NSIC with 208 rebounds this season, ranking second in all of Division II.

Playing in all 29 games throughout the season, the Grafton, N.D., native averaged a double-double with 16.9 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. He recorded a league-high 14 double-doubles throughout the season, the fourth-most in D-II. In conference games, Albrecht finished ninth in the NSIC with an average of 16.5 points per game. He was first in rebounding (9.5), eighth in field-goal percentage (47.7%) and sixth in minutes per game (35.1).

His 601 career rebounds are seventh most in program history. He is one of 21 Beavers to reach the 1,000-point mark and sits 14th in program history with 1,212 career points.
