Dallas Cowboys' Trevon Diggs to be speaker at Austin Area High School Sports Awards
Trevon Diggs is coming to Austin.
The Dallas Cowboys' All-Pro cornerback is set to be the speaker at the 2024 Austin Area High School Sports Awards, presented by Thomas J. Henry Law.
The Austin Area High School Sports Awards is a nine-month student-athlete recognition program that will culminate at the red-carpet show. Nominees for player of the year for Texas state sanctioned sports will be announced throughout the year in the Austin American-Statesman, on its website, statesman.com, and on its many social platforms.
The show will be held June 12 at The Long Center: Dell Hall in Austin. Tickets are now available.
Diggs has become a fan favorite not only with the Dallas Cowboys, but within the NFL.
Originally from Maryland, he went to college at the University of Alabama, where he played for four years. He started as a wide receiver, but made the switch to defense. That decision paid off in the long run. Diggs was named first-team All-SEC and third-team All-America. During the 2018 season, he and the Crimson Tide won the CFP National Championship.
From there, the cornerback was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Since joining Dallas, Diggs has solidified himself as one of the league’s top defensive backs, earning All-Pro honors in 2021 and two Pro Bowl invites. He led the league in interceptions in 2021 with 11.
After suffering an ACL injury in the 2023 season, Trevon is looking forward to making his comeback on the field for the 2024 NFL season.
