Dakota Valley star guard Isaac Bruns commits to South Dakota

Dakota Valley boys basketball rising senior star guard Isaac Bruns has committed to South Dakota men's basketball.

Bruns, a member of the Argus Leader's First Five team, averaged 23.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in his junior season, leading Dakota Valley to an undefeated Class A boys state championship season.

The younger brother of recent South Dakota transfer Paul Bruns, who won Summit League Freshman of the Year at North Dakota in 2021-22, Isaac filled a big scoring void left by the elder Bruns in addition to contributing "elite" play on the defensive end, Panthers head coach Jason Kleis said.

USD men's basketball has a stacked guard room, and if all remain with the Coyotes when Bruns enrolls in 2023, Bruns will join a team featuring last year's leading scorer and breakout star Kruz Perrott-Hunt, his older brother Paul, Keaton Kutcher and perhaps the Summit League's best point guard in A.J. Plitzuweit.
