Brooklyn Nets guard D’Angelo Russell was reportedly cited for marijuana possession after trying to get the drug through airport security. After searching what initially appeared to be a can of iced tea, TSA agents found a secret compartment that contained marijuana, according to USA Today.

Russell was allegedly cited for marijuana possession of less than 50 grams. That is punishable by a fine of $100 or less in New York.

The 23-year-old Russell is coming off a breakout season with the Nets. He put up a career-high 21.1 points and seven assists per game. That performance propelled Russell to his first All-Star appearance.

Behind Russell’s strong play, the Nets managed to secure the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. The team lost in five games to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Under current NBA rules, Russell may not face significant punishment from the league for the citation. Players can get suspended for using marijuana, but it requires failing multiple tests.
