BASEBALL PLAYOFFS
Division I
Cumberland 10, Portsmouth 0
The Clippers scored early and often, with everyone in the lineup recording at least one hit. Cumberland plated 2 runs in the first, 1 in the second and 7 in the sixth to end the game early. Cumberland totaled 11 hits. Connor Allard and Luke Plumer had multiple hits for Cumberland. On the mound, Michael Bradshaw threw all 6 innings for Cumberland, striking out 8 and not allowing any runs, or walks. Oliver Rey led Portsmouth with two hits. The Clippers will face Bishop Hendricken on Monday. Portsmouth will host Central on Monday.
Division II
Westerly 9, Ponaganset 5
Bulldogs Jack Tenuta and Grayson Simmons each went 2-4 with 2 RBI to lead Westerly's offense and DeLuca Kyan threw 4 innings, with 5 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs to earn the win. For the Chieftains, Spencer DiGiulio went 4-5 while Dylan Mourao, was 2-5 with 3 RBIs. With the victory, Westerly next plays Monday against the loser of Sunday's East Providence-Chariho game.
Division III
West Warwick 4, Rogers 1
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, West Warwick scored four runs to pull ahead of the Vikings and held them scoreless over the last two innings to move onto the D-III Regional Pod final. In their four-run rally, Karl Swanson and Dylan Lombari hit back-to-back singles, scoring Zach LaBonte and Nathan Hunt. Swanson and Lombari scored on a two-out error. Dom Carollo picked up his sixth win of the year by striking out six batters and allowing just one earned run. Freshman closer Anthony Burt struck out the side in the top of the seventh. Rogers pitcher Robert Dufault struck out nine batters and scattered five hits in six innings. The Wizards will play the winner of the Loser’s Bracket Final between Exeter-West Greenwich and Rogers. Benjamin Borgueta (Rogers) and Dylan Lombari (WW) led their teams with two hits each.
