The newly-inducted Ring of Honor coach reports that he’s now on Jerry Jones’s advisory board. “We were talking on the phone for about an hour after his Green Bay loss, and he was talking about what all he needed to do because he had big decisions on Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn and Dak Prescott,” he told Miami’s WQAM 560 AM. “Everything is hunky-dory now. Over a lengthy luxury-box visit in Las Vegas, the edge rusher spelled out a shopping list for his boss to consider this offseason. Mike Tannenbaum thinks both teams would walk away improved if the Cowboys sent wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Jets in exchange for C.J. Mosley. The 31-year-old Mosley was the team’s leading tackler and graded out as PFF’s sixth-best linebacker last year.

The sixth-round pick in last year’s draft left many scratching their heads, especially given the way Dallas aggressively moved up to get him as their pick. He basically sat out 2023 on a redshirt season, but the Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator does love a big, physical CB who can play man, play the ball, and make tackles in space. That’s Scott. He could make a move up the depth chart in the new regime.

Expect a battle between Peyton Hendershot and John Stephens Jr. this summer; Sean McKeon is a question mark with free agency looming. Veteran options could include Mike Gesicki, Hunter Henry, and Austin Hooper.

The prospect, thought to be a Day 3 steal, likely heads into his second camp as the team’s reserve lineman and could have a shot at securing the role of backup tackle. The fact that he can play multiple positions will only help him as the Dallas front five potentially undergoes some changes.

Bucky Brooks believes the Cowboys have the fourth-biggest championship window right now, behind Kansas City, Detroit, and Baltimore (in order). There will likely be a real sense of urgency this year for Mike McCarthy, and Mike Zimmer’s old-school cultural shift should help Dallas apply more force in win-or-go-home games.

This year’s draft is April 25-27 in Detroit, where events will be held in an area around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza. City and league officials say they’ve been working on safety preparations for months. The draft and its ancillary activities typically take place within a secure perimeter that requires fans to enter through security checkpoints, which include metal detectors and bag checks. That will be no different in Detroit.
