When introducing themselves to the TV viewing audience near the start of a game, it's customary for NFL players to identify with the college they attended. But Council Rock South grad Justin Pugh injected some humor into his pre-taped intro on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The veteran Giants lineman, who was just resigned to the practice squad by the team that drafted him in the first round in 2013, bypassed the fact he is a Syracuse product and instead announced, “Justin Pugh, straight off the couch.”

The hilarious line is a nod to the 33-yeard-old Holland native being inactive since tearing his ACL last October. He was resigned to the Giants practice squad less than two weeks ago and, due to numerous injuries on the New York offensive line, was elevated to starting right guard for Sunday’s 14-9 loss the Buffalo Bills. Another Giants’ injury necessitated his switch to left tackle early in the game.

It was the 121st career game for the 6-5, 311-pound Pugh, who played with the Giants 5 seasons until leaving in free agency for the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.
