Could Jim Harbaugh emerge as head coaching candidate for Giants?

Could Jim Harbaugh be interested in returning to the NFL? And if so, would the New York Giants head coaching position interest him? Assuming, of course, the team parts ways with Joe Judge?

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg seems to believe Harbaugh would be interested in Big Blue if the job were open.

A report earlier in the day indicated that the 58-year-old Harbaugh could be thinking about a return to the NFL, although teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and Chicago Bears were mentioned as possible options since they are expected to have openings next week.

Harbaugh last coached in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers back in 2014. He was 44-19-1 in four seasons before he mutually parted ways with the team. A few weeks later, he signed a massive deal to head to Michigan.

In seven seasons with the Wolverines, Harbaugh is 61-24 and Michigan just completed a 12-2 season. While they did lose in the Orange Bowl to Georgia, Harbaugh’s team defeated Ohio State for the first time under his tenure and ended the school’s losing streak that dated back to 2011.

While reports have indicated that Joe Judge is safe from being fired, could Harbaugh’s possible interest in the Giants change everything? Would it alone be enough to sway opinions?

Judge’s 11-minute rant following a 29-3 loss to the Bears, lumped in with a 10-22 coaching record and a fan base that might boo him out of the building if they lose to the Washington Football Team in Week 18, could also change a lot of things.
