Cooperstown, Laurens/Milford girls roll to big wins

Dec. 5—The Cooperstown girls basketball team rolled to a 69-33 home victory over Dolgeville Tuesday.

After taking a 12-point lead into halftime, the Hawkeyes outscored Dolgeville 38-14 in the second half to put the game away.

Mia Kaltenbach led the scoring with 18 points to go with six rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Rory Nelen, meanwhile, had 14 points and five rebounds, Polly Kennedy had 12 points and three rebounds and Brenna Seamon notched eight points, four rebounds and two steals.

Cooperstown will be at home again Friday when it hosts Sauquoit Valley.

Laurens/Milford 52, Margaretville 23

Laurens/Milford earned a non-league home victory Tuesday by defeating Margaretville 52-23.

Kyrah Andrades led the way for L/M with 17 points while Brooke Mann scored 13 points and Delaney Maison finished with nine.

Ana Gavette was the game's top scorer in scoring all 23 points for the Blue Devils.

Laurens/Milford (3-1) will host Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Wednesday.

Sharon Springs 33, Middleburgh 27

Sharon Springs won a low-scoring game against Middleburg 33-27 Tuesday at home.

Zarie Fassett led the Spartans with 15 points and seven steals while Lilly Tessier added seven points, seven rebounds and eight steals in the win.

Sharon Springs will host Worcester Thursday.

Walton/Downsville 46, Stamford/Jefferson 38 (Monday)

Walton/Downsville won a battle of 2-0 teams Monday, defeating Stamford/Jefferson 46-38 at home.

Grace Walley and Alivia Conklin each had double-doubles in the victory, with Walley notching 20 points and 10 rebounds while Conklin finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Elsewhere, Kennedy Williams had seven rebounds and eight steals and Eve Foster had eight rebounds to go with four points.

McKenna Hoyt led Stamford/Jefferson with 18 points while Abigail Villanueva finished with six.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Milford 62, Middleburgh 48

The Milford boys notched a 62-48 win over Middleburgh Tuesday in the consolation game of the Stamford Booster Club Tournament.

Christian Lawson scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Wildcats while Braden Murphy earned all-tournament honors after scoring 16 points.

Carter Stevens added seven points and 12 assists while Evan Clark pulled down 10 rebounds.

Milford will host Edmeston Friday.

VOLLEYBALL

The Cooperstown volleyball team took down Remsen in four sets Monday by scores of 25-11, 17-25, 25-16, 25-10.

Leading the Hawkeyes in the win were Ava Lesko with eight digs, Alexis Wolfe with 10 digs and seven assists, Josie Furnari with eight digs and five aces, Lucy Hayes with 17 digs, 11 assists and three kills, Violet Gentiles with 13 digs and three aces and Mia Pelcer with nine kills and seven digs.

Cooperstown will be at Westmoreland Friday.
