Commanders release statement on Brian Robinson Jr.

Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. is in the hospital after being shot multiple times in an attempted carjacking, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

The Commanders have released the following statement:

We have been made aware that Brian Robinson Jr. was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking in Washington, D.C. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital, where team officials are on site with him. We ask that you please respect Brian’s privacy at this time.

The statement reads that team officials are on site with Robinson. Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post confirmed the team officials, which are head coach Ron Rivera, owners Daniel and Tanya Snyder, general manager Martin Mayhew, team president Jason Wright, chief medical officer Tony Casolaro and director of mental wellness Barbara Roberts.

Robinson’s family is also present at the hospital.
