Colts’ snap count analysis from Week 4 loss to Rams

The Indianapolis Colts (2-2) fought their way to overtime against the Los Angeles Rams (2-2) but ultimately fell short, 29-23, in Week 4.

Despite falling down 23-0 halfway through the third quarter, the Colts valiantly fought back behind the spark of rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson, who finished the game with three total touchdowns.

Here’s a look at the snap counts on offense, defense and special teams, followed by our analysis below:

Analysis

  • RB Zack Moss continued to see the majority of work. It will be interesting to see what his role is when Jonathan Taylor is healthy enough to return.

  • The rotation at tight end is stabilizing, and it’s clear Andrew Ogletree is the No. 2 behind Kylen Granson.

  • This is the first time this season QB Anthony Richardson played 100% of the snaps.

Analysis

  • Players who were on the field for 100% of the snaps included: S Rodney Thomas, S Julian Blackmon and CB Kenny Moore II.

  • Dealing with groin and back injuries, DT DeForest Buckner was limited to just 24% of the snaps.

  • LB Shaquille Leonard was on the field for just 45% of the snaps, the fewest snaps he’s played this season.

  • With CB Dallis Flowers out for the season, it will be Julius Brents taking his place. Both players were on the field for 96% of the snaps in Week 4.

  • CB Tony Brown (89%) led the way followed by LB Segun Olubi (85%) and LB E.J. Speed (63%).

  • TE Andrew Ogletree (44%) played the most special teams snaps among all offensive players.

  • With 82 snaps (100%) on defense and 13 snaps (48%) on special teams, S Rodney Thomas II was on the field more than any Colts players in Week 4.
