Colts release CB Chris Lammons following 3-game suspension, add to practice squad

The Colts waited three games for Chris Lammons to serve his suspension, but they won't be welcoming him back to the active roster.

Indianapolis released the veteran cornerback Monday, on the day he was eligible to return from his suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. The Colts then added Lammons to their practice squad.

The Colts signed Lammons this summer shortly after the 27-year-old was sentenced for his role in the beating of a man in Las Vegas in 2022. Lammons allegedly stomped on the man after he was attacked by Saints running back Alvin Kamara, who also received a three-game suspension for his role in the matter.

Chris Lammons participated in Indianapolis Colts training camp but served a suspension during the team's first three games before he was released.

Lammons pled guilty and was required to pay $210,000 to cover the victim's medical expenses.

The Colts added Lammons to bring depth and special teams assistance this season. The decision to move him to the practice squad comes one day after second-round rookie cornerback JuJu Brents' impressive debut that came with former starting cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. inactive.

Brents and Baker Jr. help make up the Colts cornerback room along with Kenny Moore II, Dallis Flowers, Tony Brown II and seventh-round rookie Jaylon Jones.
