Colts’ Keke Coutee in concussion protocol

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keke Coutee is currently in the league’s concussion protocol after suffering the injury on a punt return in the 34-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.

Just before the end of the first half, Coutee returned a punt and took a hit that resulted in a concussion. He was able to walk off the field under his own power with the guidance of the training staff and was ruled out shortly after that.

Head coach Frank Reich told the media Monday that Coutee is currently in the league’s protocol.

“Feed bad for Keke (Coutee). I mean, he’s a competitive playmaker and a ferocious competitor. Obviously, a tough hit, a tough concussion. Obviously, in the protocol. I feel bad for him,” Reich said Monday. “He’s done everything right. So, he’ll have to go through all that protocol. He’ll likely be out next week.”

The Colts put wide receiver Ashton Dulin on the injured reserve list, and he can’t be activated until Week 10 at the earliest. With Coutee likely out in Week 7, the Colts are likely going to have to make a move someway or another considering they have only four healthy receivers.
