Colts’ Jonathan Taylor may miss time with thumb injury

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor suffered a thumb injury during the Week 12 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and may miss some time, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Taylor played through the thumb injury and had a strong finish to the game. He ended the win with 15 carries for 91 rushing yards and two touchdowns against one of the best run defenses in the NFL.

It isn’t clear how long Taylor will be out due to the injury. He may simply have a reduced role or he may miss time during the final six games of the regular season.

If Taylor were to miss any time during the home stretch of the regular season, the Colts would once again lean on Zack Moss to lead the backfield. Through Week 9, Moss ranked second in the NFL in rushing yards and through Week 10, he was fifth in the NFL in rushing yards.

Even now entering Week 13, Moss is still top-10 in rushing yards, which goes to show how well he produced in the absence of Taylor earlier in the season.

There will likely be some form of updates from the national media or when Shane Steichen speaks to reporters Wednesday, but this certainly will be something to monitor.
